Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This is slightly translucent lightweight silk from a woman's kimono; slightly textured feel, mild chirimen; fabric background color is burgundy color solid throughout, with evenly spaced rectangular grid arrangement of 1 inch/2.54cm diameters ornate circular medallions; these figures are mostly soft-white with small accent spots of red; We're thinking the round medallions have possibly butterflies as center design; Please see close-ups:  designs are on one side only; slight drape.

Recommended for making scarf/accessories.
