Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight, delicate (almost sheer translucent) peach-colored 1930s-50s silk from a woman's summer kimono, with decorated orbs placed randomly in the full length larger orbs are 7 inches / 17.78cm in diameter, and are either filled/covered with many types of flowers or as large mon (crest) designs; silk is interwoven throughout with the geometric diagonal maze type design traditionally associated with Buddhist temples, and with smaller chrysanthemums also in the background (please view our last image); Fabric designs on one side; slight sheen, slight texture to the touch; colors used in the designs:  white, off-white, dark plum, dark colonial green, mustard-yellow, olive green, grays , black, lavender, silver; very slight elasticity/stretch.
