Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This lightweight silk piece is slightly  translucent, derived from a woman's kimono; background fabric color is dark navy-blue and interwoven throughout with the diagonal maze-type design associated with Buddhist temples traditionally, in such subtle background it is barely visible; to reveal it we took a close-up picture of the reverse side which  reveals the pattern - please view last image;

Motif Details:   These leaves and stems are of a type of bamboo that we are not familiar with; We compared this to some switchgrass and other similar leaves, but settled on calling it some sort of bamboo (If anyone knows, please let us know, we're curious :} ) regardless, the designs are creatively rendered and distinctive; colors in dark salmon and have a batik look (intentional tiny cracks, see close-ups); Because of the interwoven temple maze pattern throughout the fabric it has a noticeable texture but little drape; the fabric is intended for one side display; well suited for making a scarf or accessory.

It is recommended for making scarf/accessories.

Colors: Please use our text descriptions to complement your sense of the colors, as color and contrast differ on different devices.

Condition: Excellent.
