Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980s fabric derived from deadstock roll of kimono silk; (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new but has been in storage, never been used).

Fabric Description: Japanese vintage heavy-weight silk kimono fabric originally intended to make a woman's kimono; a solid tangerine orange colored background is interwoven with large-scale Japanese Cranes in-flight - wingspan 18 inches /45.72cm; The larger chrysanthemums are 8 inches / 20.32cm diameter; these designs are interwoven; fabric has a sheen similar to damask; These patterns are intended for viewing the outside, the reverse shows the negative of main side (white on front, dark orange on reverse); Other details of the motif: Colors are vermillion and off-whites; note within the petals of the large chrysanthemums are fine and pixelated multiple designs, mesh, pinstripes, tiny geometric classic mazes, etc. - Please see closeups.
