Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50s silk fabric was derived from a young woman's ceremonial kimono. Exceptional quality/condition for its age. Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Type:   Delicate lightweight dark-fuschia-red silk, very slightly translucent fabric. slight chirimen (crepe) feel with the background  interwoven with classic geometric maze patterns-- being barely visible in the few solid areas, since fabric is filled with designs (see close-ups);  motif is of bright and multiple color designs;  print on one side but mostly visible on the reverse; the open fans are replete with multiple flowers, imperial cart, royal partial view of country home porch,  pine trees, bamboo leaves, and decorative cords winding in background; *Noshi decorative cords and ribbons fill the background; Colors used in motifs are from most of the spectrum, with reds, teals, blue, mustard-yellow, greens, pink, dark plum and white or cream;  slight drape.

(*To see the cultural info on Noshi,  please visit japanesewiki.com HERE).

Suitable for making scarf or accessories, or even framing and display.
