Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-1950s fabric from under-kimono, pieces from an Arai Hari (special Japanese kimono cleaner -- see info on Arai-Hari HERE from John Marshall, expert on Japanese textiles .

Fabric Description Details:

This type of silk was derived from a nagajuban (under-kimono) for women, it is very lightweight, soft, and translucent; the background color is rust-red with interwoven classic motifs throughout, including shrines/pagodas, bamboo fences, pine trees, round berries on branches, maple leaves and clouds; also, some white and yellow thin single line borders and accents on clouds, pagoda, leaves, and berries; sheen on both sides.

Recommended for making scarf, accessories.
