Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This is lightweight, slightly translucent silk derived from a 1980s girl's kimono; Background color is solid vermillion with the motif being floral and dotted orbs, all under 2.5 inches/6.4 cm diameter; also, in the background layer of the design there are orbs with nothing but the shibori-dots fields; What makes this piece most interesting & distinctive is the placement of ka classic motif of Palace Dolls (children), called Gosho Ningyo , over the various non-floral orbs and in between; there are various traditional toys and musical instruments with the Gosho Ningyo; please view our closeups; The flower orbs are white with many types of traditional motif flowers; colors are mostly pastels and some darker hues; most colors of the spectrum used, with a slight predominance of orange to salmon colors, and pastel peach and light reds; print on one side, slightly visible on reverse; very slight drape; no sheen.
