Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight chirimen silk deconstructed from a woman's kimono; This is a 1960s fabric piece that has a gradation-colored background -- cream to light-peach; The Primary design is of multiple thin stems in vine array with flowers, overalapped at the bottom by two pairs of joined open fans, both heavily decorated with flowers, mon-crests, fans, classic old country house, etc.; the silvers and golds on these open fans have a metallic sheen and are textured to the touch; colors used in designs: iron-red, blue, moss-green, gold, silver, red, orange, tan, whites; design on front, but slightly visible on reverse.
