Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description:  Delicate lightweight fine red silk originally froma girl's ceremonial kimono;This is a 1930s-1950s fabric piece which is a red background color with designs of  8 Gosho Ningyo (Palace Dolls, a classic motif)  within floral orbs that are average 7 inches [17.78 cm] diameter) ;orbs have a variety of floral designs; The gosho ningyo dolls have a variety of play objects, different for each doll; Also, in the background are open Japanese fans and decorative cords; fans are filled with shibori-dot fields patterns; Colors within the designs and figures are very light brighter colors: whites, pinks, blues, greens and some light yellow accents; Designs are on one side, but as the fabric is thin, some of the designs can be seen on the reverse.
