Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This delicate 1960s silk is a lightweight,  translucent black summer kimono fabric with classic swirling waves, water motifs throughout; fabric piece has pairs of embroidered metallic copper-brown threads bamboo leaves,  both brocaded into the fabric; Most likely this was from a summer garment, due to its light nature; the fabric is soft yet textured due to the total interwoven designs; has slight drape; also, there is a metallic iridescent quality to the fabric, noticeable in differing lighting.

Colors: Please use our text color descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric due to differences in contrast and color on different devices.

Condition: Excellent for age, with a few small pinholes from the Arai-Hari process.

Recommended for making scarf/accessories, or sashiko artistry.
