Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description:  Lightweight silk is a 1980s piece from a woman's kimono; the fabric background is a rusty-burgundy color with interwoven background patterns that mirror the colored flowers of the foreground; the background peonies flowers and extended tubular leaves have sheen; the fabric is slightly textured, almost a chirimen; The foreground patterns are rendered with white mock-shibori dots forming the flowers and with the slender green leaves resembling long decorative ribbons; The greens have an uneven coloration batik look; slight drape, Recommended for making scarf/accessories.
