Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Type:  This is a lightweight, fine cream-colored silk, translucent with metallic silver and gold threads throughout the entire design; Motif is of traditional decorative ribbons (Noshi) with a wide variety of traditional shapes, figures, and fields (waves, clouds, vines, fans, water, mon crests, others); also, different types of many flowers are used,  Prominent are the large decorative gift cords with tassels; Highly ornate bright designs; Colors used: dark red, dark orange, black, white, pink, dark to light olive greens, mustard, lavender, pale blue, green, pink, black and yellow; the fabric is slightly soft and has light drape because of all the metallics used throughout.

Recommended for making scarves or accessories.
