Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980s kimono silk fabric pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Type:  Lightweight, minimally translucent silk; this ivory-colored fabric is completely interwoven with shining small leaves and flowers (less than .5 inch/12.7mm) as background, giving the fabric a luminescent look, varying with lighting and angle of view (Please see our last close-up image); designs are intended as on the front side but lower contrast is seen on the reverse;  Motif is definitely an attempt at modernistic, almost abstract designs: pinstripes run vertically(lengthwise) all in parallel but varying in spacing; however, these stripes also are within slight wavy bands (average 1.5 inches/ 38.1 thickness), and running laterally (this effect is more apparent if viewed from a distance).  There are pixellated camellia blossoms in red to burgundy-red colors; stripes are black; Please see close-ups for the designs; the fabric has minimal drape and is slightly stiff.

This most unusual design is especially recommended for making scarf/accessories.

Colors: Please consider our text descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric, as colors and contrast differ on different devices.

Condition: Excellent for age.
