Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960s kimono silk fabric pieces received from a traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Type:  Light-medium weight Japanese silk; textured, solid black; designs same on both sides. checkerboard pattern using irregularly-edged squares, all 3/4 inch to 1 inch(6.35mm to 2.54cm); these blocks are alternating rows/columns of silver (fine pinstripes) figures and 5-dot blocks; The silver blocks have slight sheen; the five-dot-figures are white at corners with red dots in centers;  Please see close-ups; minimal drape and slightly stiff; evocative of classic kasuri(ikat) look but is not.

Suitable for making scarf/accessories.
