Fabric Description: Deadstock never used, Japanese vintage kasuri (ikat) cotton fabric;
Fabric Type: Kasuri (ikat), Lightweight, still firm and slightly translucent; indigo blue(almost black) dyed background, motifs in light-pale blue; This is not a typical ikat pattern, with a symmetrical grid composed of rows and columns formed using small (less than 1 inch/2.54cm) oval shapes in sine-wave lines, and hashtag-like (also less than 1inch/2.54cm figures; please see close-ups; fabric is the same on both sides.

This is an unused Japanese country vintage fabric called kasuri (also called ikat in Southeast Asia; ) ; Kasuri is a labor-intensive process where patterns are made by pre-dyed paste resistance and varying techniques used to create the sorts of patterns seen here.
