Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This is medium-weight silk from a woman's formal kimono; Background color is cream with  light pink swaths slanting across the middle in places; the fabric is heavily interwoven (possibly some brocade work) with metallic white-gold or silver color threads; this fabric glitters throughout, depending on lighting and angle of view; designs are of small-scale (largest is 1 inch/2.54cm) flowers & bamboo leaves, as well as branches, and classic streams; Also most of the fabric is interwoven with a small mesh sort of maze field designs comprised of small diamonds (elements 1/4 inch/6.35mm), please view closeups; colors of designs are copper, orange, moss-green, light blue, light salmon;  Designs on one side, slight sheen; silver brocade threads visible on back; slightly elastic due to dense weave; the fabric is heavier, so nice drape.

Recommended for making scarf/accessories.

Colors: Please use our text descriptions to complement your sense of the colors, as color and contrast differ on different devices.
