Fabric History/Provenance: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This is lightweight silk. slightly translucent, for use in making a woman's kimono; Background color is a mix of dark plum and dark chocolate colors with skipped weft iridescent pinstriped ribbed threads that are 1/32 inch (.79375mm) apart (see our last closeup above); the entire fabric is intricately interwoven with traditional motifs, including streams, glimmering ponds, fans, wave crests and single rows of white and red figures, like falling flower petals; also, this fabric is set apart by an effect of sparkling caused by the aforementioned interwoven iridescent threads spaced intermittently;  a most distinctive and unusual fabric design, we couldn't well capture in our pictures.

Recommended for making scarf/accessories.

Colors: Please use our text descriptions to complement your sense of the colors, as color and contrast differ on different devices.
