Fabric Description: This high-quality, 1930s-1950s silk is a lightweight fabric that was part of a woman's ceremonial kimono; Background color is pale silver-gray as well as fields that are dark salmon-red and dark teal; Other colors of motifs include: a wide range of colors across the spectrum, from  white to pale olive-greens to dark purple and blacks - most colors of the spectrum;

Motif is of very large butterflies and decorative cords and tassels; many other motifs, all rendered in a slightly modern fashion yet filled with many various older Japanese symbols, such as, persimmons with leaves on branches, also herringbone patterns in bright colors; Abundant use of fields of crests(mon), shibori-dots look;

But the most distinctive feature of this fabric is the interwoven fine parallel curving lines that look like feathers, or perhaps even resemble the  lines seen in the gills of fish (the latter just our guess); please view close-ups; soft with a nice drape and sheen; Please view our close-ups.

Recommended for making scarf or accessories.

Colors: Please use our text color descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric due to differences in contrast and color on different devices.
