Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This high-quality, 1930s-1950s silk is a lightweight fabric, slightly translucent, and was part of a woman's ceremonial kimono; Background color is cream, black and orange colors with designs on one side only; though slightly visible on the reverse; this entire fabric is interwoven with classic floral and other traditional decor patterns; these interwoven patterns are scarcely visible but they have a light sheen; Motifs include: temari balls itomaki (decorated old-style  wooden yarn spools), luxury decorative cords with tassels, origami crane (in shibori dot-like fields), small nested-arc waves (black with metallic silver lines); Colors of motifs include: red, shuiro(vermillion), dark purple, orange, green, pink, mustard, etc.; please view close-ups; soft with a nice drape.
