Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This high-quality, 1930s-1950s silk is a lightweight fabric and was for use in making a woman's dress kimono; Background color is black with designs on one side only; though slightly visible on the reverse; this entire fabric is interwoven with classic small-scale, diagonal maze patterns, to include an ancient symbol for shrines; Designs are of large scale flowers and leaves: Camelia blossoms, plum blossoms, bamboo & Japanese maple leaves; motif colors are light shades of tan, brown, mauve, pink, pale green and off-white (please view close-ups); Nice drape.

Recommended for making scarf or accessories.
