Item Details and Description

  • Fabric History/Pedigree:   1930's to 1950's silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

  • Fabric Description:  Meisen silk, lightweight, slightly translucent, with intentionally fuzzy edges to designs; the motif is one we rarely see, of pairs of lovebirds on the branches of willow tree; the background color is deep -- yet bright - shade of purple, and the designs are in white with accents in light-yellow and pink at the birds, and some of the branches; motifs same on both sides; no sheen.
