Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This is a 1930s-1950s silk, a delicate, very lightweight kimono fabric, translucent, with a background in soft salmon color and light peachy-tan; Diagonal bands in these colors have either royal flower cart, small country house and flowers, or curlicue lined vines and flowers (using shibori-dot-like patterns); these diagonal fields have curved and cloud-like edges; As for colors of motifs, except for dark plum lines on the carts and on a few flowers, all other design colors are pastels: off-white, pale blue-gray and hint of peach to dark salmon hues; Design is on one side, but as the fabric is so thin it is almost the same on reverse; no sheen, slight drape, good for making scarf or accessories.

Colors: Please use our text color descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric due to differences in contrast and color on different devices.

Condition: Excellent.
