Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Type:  Lightweight fine milk-white silk, very slightly translucent; some sheen in interwoven design spaces; print on one side but visible on the reverse; Motif is of traditional decorative Imperial flower carts, many types flowers, maple leaves, bamboo leaves; the interwoven designs in the white spaces are stylized patterns of water and classic geometric maze-like patterns (these are scarcely visible except up close in bright light); Highly ornate bright design; Colors used: dominant color is burgundy-red and lighter shades of same; also: olive-green, purple, fuchsia and silvers;  the fabric is soft and has a nice drape.

Recommended for making scarves or accessories.
