Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50's  silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: This good quality, 1930s-1950s silk is a lightweight fabric, very slightly translucent, originally used to make woman's kimono or under-kimono; Motifs are large-scale interwoven designs giving the fabric a textured/ higher-relief feel; Color is a burgundy color with a  hint of ruby-red; in lower light looks maroon; Motifs seen on both sides but one side has slight sheen; Motifs include: classic large fans, flowers, and peacock feathers; the fabric has some drape, good for making scarf or accessories.
