Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Type:  Lightweight silk, slightly translucent; no sheen; probably intended for use in making girl's ceremonial kimono; designs are print on one side; background fabric color is a vermillion(shuiro) color with full motifs of flowers, maple leaves, cranes-in-flight, pinwheel, Temari ball, large peonies, decorative pottery and a few classic waves or switchgrass (lateral array arcs); Designs fill the fabric; Colors used for the designs are moss-green, dark blue, black, yellow, white and off-white, and various shades of lighter reds-to-orange; motif colors are not bright, rather subdued, muted; (Please see close-ups).
