Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50s chirimen silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Type:  Lightweight fine chirimen (crepe) silk, dark plum background color,no-sheen; print on one side; Highly distinctive print, with the designs done with tiny pixels; Clusters of flowers include chrysanthemums, Iris and cherry blossoms; the design colors are muted light aqua-blues, light gray-silvers, and mustards; also colors within the flowers have subtle gradations of these colors (Please see closeups);
An exceptional and unusual fabric that might possibly be from the 1920's or earlier.
Recommended for use in making scarves or other accessories; suitable for framing.
