Fabric History/Pedigree: 1990's, pieces derived from deadstock roll of kimono mock-silk (synthetic); (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new but has been in storage, never been used).
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage light-medium weight mock-silk kimono fabric originally intended to make a woman's everyday kimono; the background color is a medium-tan color; Motifs are small pairs (averaging 2.5 inches /6.4 cm at longest dimension) of classical Japanese music instruments: biwa, tsuzumi drum, shakuhachi flutes and koto (To learn more about these instruments see Wikipedia article HERE); Colors in the figures are white, burgundy and blue; Has slight crepe texture, mock-chirimen.
