Fabric History/Pedigree: Deadstock cotton from roll, type of cotton used for making summer kimono called yukata, for daily summer wear, not the thin bath type yukata.
Fabric Description: Light-medium weight cotton originally intended to make a woman's daily-wear kimono; This piece has is a gray background with flowers, branches, and leaves, mostly in black with some burgundy-gray and white accents; The weave and patterns are mimicking the look of older kasuri(ikat) and meisen designs with their blurred edges and lines; same on both sides; this fabric is fairly smooth to the touch.
