Item Details and Description

  • Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s to 1950s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

  • Fabric Description:  Kimono silk, lightweight and slightly translucent, slightly stiff, no-sheen; a more modernistic and distinctive motif of diagonal bands composed of diamond shapes; designs are created using very fine pinstripes, rendering a fuzzy, impressionistic sense to the design; Colors used: burgundy-red, red, brown, black, and light-tan background between pinstripes (Please see close-ups); This piece same on both sides.
