Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980's tsumugi (pongee) silk pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE

Fabric Description:  ThisJapanese vintage traditional Tsumugi is a lightweight pongee type silk that in a seldom-seen color for tsumugi-- copper/rusty-burgundy;  Designs as follow: Two thin single black pinstripes run lengthwise, dividing designs into 3 equal-width columns; Each column has geometric figures symmetrically spaced lengthwise; On the black lines and partially at each edge are classic stylized butterfly figures.

These designs are rendered by very tiny off-white to white pixelated weave lines; some salmon-pink accents used in centers of some figures; the background color is sort of a  solid rusty-burgundy but with some blacks faintly visible in the lateral weave.
