Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s to 1950's kimono silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Type:  Lightweight translucent silk; designs on one side; the background is gray color with designs in dark cranberry(dark fuschia?)  and black;  Motif is a common design of large family crests (mon) that run in alternating singles and pairs (see close-ups); Designs on one side.

Fabric Type: Lightweight printed silk originally for use in making woman's under-kimono or summer outer kimono; Designs are print on one side; Motif is a foreground of large-scale traditional colorful noshi, decorated ribbons used with gift wrapping (To see the cultural info on Noshi, please visit HERE); Noshi are all filled with many flowers, large and small, as well as traditional renderings of pine tree branches and maple leaves; also shibori-dot fields patterns;
