Fabric Description: Deadstock (new, never used but from another era) lightweight silk piece from Pre-War Japan is in original roll and label; the fabric is lightweight, high-quality old Japanese silk, intended for use in making a woman's kimono; the fabric is slightly translucent and is soft, nice drape; designs are printed on one side but mostly visible on reverse; Background color is tan; Designs are of various style Japanese fans, each of them decorated with either flowers, birds in-flight (Phoenix?),classic asa-no-ha (hemp leaf) pattern, and various other lines or crest-like repeat patterns on fans; Colors within the fans include blues, dark-salmon(rusty-burgundy?), beige, colonial blues, orange, grays, and light tans; Label reads, Made in Kai (price) 44 Yen 38 Sen (100 Sen = 1 Yen),for roll: Kai is the pre-war name for present-day Yamanashi Prefecture.
