Item Details and Description

Fabric Description: Japanese vintage Okinawan Bingata silk kimono fabric used to make woman's kimono; deadstock (old but never used, taken from a roll).  See Wikipedia background info on this fabric of the Ryuukyuu Islands (Central Island is Okinawa).

Fabric Type: Light-medium weight silk, slight drape, chirimen-like texture; classic Bingata themes on a light-cream colored background are: bamboo leaves, various flowers including chrysanthemums, cherry, and plum blossoms; Colors in designs: iron-red, purple, dark-blues, mustard, and greens; motifs on one side but visible on reverse; The close-up of the writing in the last picture translates as, "Ryuukyuu Bingata".
