Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s to 1950s kimono silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Lightweight slightly translucent silk; no sheen; designs are print on one side but mostly visible on reverse; the background is dark-purple color with designs in dark burgundy-red, green, mustard, teal, and dark blues; Motif is a classic traditional combination of olden bamboo fences, pine trees, maple leaves, chrysanthemums, and cherry blossoms, rendered in the colors mentioned above (see close-ups).
