Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description:  Lightweight  silk This is a 1980's piece originally intended to make a woman's ceremonial (Furisode) kimono; fabric background is in a combination of different gradation shades of whites, light lime, and light pink, print on one side; slight damask type sheen but thinner fabric; metallic silver in the bells with decorative cords (these decorative bells are called suzu in Japanese); Interwoven in the background are a classic motif of a diagonally arranged geometric grid which include within the ancient symbol for shrines; see close-ups; Colors of designs are mostly deep red, pink, green and white, also some metallic gold.
