Fabric Type: Kasuri (ikat), lightweight, slightly translucent, still stiff; 2 colors: indigo background with pale gray-blue and light blue; This is a classic kasuri with fuzzy 3/4" (19.05 mm) at largest dimension fuzzy rectangles in symmetrical grid arrangement; brighter figures are linked by ragged edged bands aligned in a diamond array (see close-ups); Designs on both sides.

This is a Japanese country vintage fabric called kasuri (also called ikat in Southeast Asia ) ; Kasuri is a labor-intensive process where patterns are made by pre-dyed paste resistance and varying techniques used to create the sorts of patterns seen here.
