Fabric History/Pedigree: 1950s-1960s fabric derived from deadstock roll of kimono silk; (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new but has been in storage, never been used).
Fabric Description: Lightweight, slightly translucent Japanese vintage silk kimono fabric originally intended to make girl's ceremonial kimono; background-color is deep-red with many brightly colored motifs, to include: open fans(decorated), birds, royal flower cart with decorative cords, decorated gourd with shibori-pattern hexagons; Flowers are all major types - peonies, cherry & plum blossoms, chrysanthemums, daffodils & other small petals; all colors are bright, from white & yellow to greens, pinks, blues, and a few small orange and black accents; Designs print on one side, but as the fabric is thin, almost same tone on reverse.
