Item Details and Description:
Fabric History/Pedigree: light-medium weight deadstock Japanese cotton (new but unsold stock) estimated from the 1950s to 1980s; This is not a conventional cut of Japanese kimono cotton given its unusual width(44 inches/111.76 cm) so may have been made for some other use than making kimono; kimono fabrics come in rolls and bolts which average 14 to 15 inches (35.56 cm to 38.1 cm) wide, and come in 11m (around 12 yards) long for full-length adult kimonos.
- Fabric Description: Dark Navy-blue fabric is a traditional motif of many different classic Japanese flowers (peonies, daisies, cherry blossoms, and leaves, etc); printed patterns are on one side only, reverse solid dark navy-blue; the motifs are in finely pixelated silver-gray colors (see close-ups).
- Condition: Excellent.
