Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-1950s pieces derived from deadstock roll of kimono silk; (Deadstock means old inventory which is like new but has been in storage, never been used)
Fabric Description: Japanese vintage silk kimono fabric used to make everyday women's kimono; the fabric is light-weight and only slightly translucent, no-sheen; smooth to the touch; slight drape; Background is a medium-dark blue with designs in off-white lines; note the sweeps of white cloud or fog motif which are in a sort of pale gray with touch of blues; motifs include many types of flowers and classic pine trees (flowers include mostly cherry blossoms and daffodils, others); also, classic rendering of streams in fine lines curving up the fabric; designs on one side, but can be seen on the reverse.
