Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50's silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Lightweight silk, slightly translucent; off-white background fabric has interwoven small-scale maze (classic diagonal associated with shrines) which also has rows of small chrysanthemums interspersed; Interesting thing about this fabric is that the reverse side has slight sheen and the interwoven figures are more evident(see our last image); because of this, possibly intended to make some sort of under-kimono; design of the print on one side is of classic plum blossoms on branches, but visible on the reverse, Colors of the designs are dark-peach (salmon hue)colors (see close-ups).
Colors: Please use our text color descriptions to complement your sense of the fabric due to differences in contrast and color on different devices.
