Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Lightweight fine red silk, translucent; no sheen; print on one side but visible on the reverse; Motif is of flower bouquets in baskets, clouds, shibori patterned fields, temari balls, decorative cords, individual flowers also scattered randomly; Colors used: fuschia, vermilion, several hues of green and pale blues, pink, white; all the design colors are muted so the motif is colorful but subdued.
