- Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s to 1950s silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Meisen silk, lightweight, slightly translucent fabric, solid salmon-pink background with rows of small geometric [average 3/8inch (9.53 mm)] oblong figures which are spaced irregularly, creating a polka-dot effect; these figures are typically fuzzy-edged shapes; colors used for the figures are dark orange to orange-reds and burgundy colors;
Note the 1/8th inch (3.17 mm) selvage on both sides; fabric is the same on both sides; no sheen.
