History/Pedigree: A pleasant surprise with our latest shipment of fabric pieces/lots from our arai-hari people in Japan (Ref: traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Description:  Hand-made purple silk doll's kimono is of kinsha type silk, fabric itself from the 1930s-1950s; Has a half inner liner (white silk) as well as red interwoven patterned chirimen red silk inside sleeves; motifs are of bamboo stalk within a vertical off-white-purple band as well as vines with blossoms mostly on the back but around to the front as shown; The white stitching you see in closeups are merely basting stitches used during storage and can be easily removed when using; Colors: also there are moss-green(lighter) as well as tans and off-whites in the motifs; There is some minor stain at back left shoulder area, only visible on close inspection (doesn't show well in our closeup (photo # 6) but it's there.
