Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description:  Lightweight fine silk, slightly translucent, is a 1930s-50s piece; light peach-pink background which has interwoven classic chrysanthemums and curlicue shapes throughout; slight sheen in the interwoven designs, rest no sheen; motifs of cranes in flight and individuals about 8 inch(20.32cm) tall vase-shapes which replete with many types of colorful flowers and strands coming out of them, evocative of ikebana; also there are various sized circles(mon crests) which are each decorated with geometrics; colors of flowers are dominant reds ( light pink to fuschia and dark reds) with few greens and yellow; also off-white and pale blues; Elsewhere you see black (crane tails) and some pale-Aquas and off-whites; Designs are on one side and no sheen; Softer than usual and nice drape, recommended for making scarf or accessories.
