Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50's silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Lightweight silk; no sheen; print on one side, the background is a light tan with multiple traditional motifs throughout; Designs of various type flowers, including chrysanthemums, iris, bamboo leaves, plum blossoms; classic rendering of pine tree branches, as well as streams and old-fashioned Japanese wooden fencing and torii (gate); thin metallic silver& gold accents throughout; design colors are wide range, from dark green to various pastels; other colors used: white, mustard, light to olive-greens, light lavenders and dark reds.
