Fabric History/Pedigree: 1930s-50's meisen silk fabric pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Type: Lightweight Meisen silk; no sheen; same on both sides, very slightly translucent; the background is purple with striking soft-white motifs, somewhat abstract in appearance; Designs resemble someJapanese butterfly motifs but also might have a floral element; lines are fuzzy-edged (typical meisen) with some accents in pink and light gray.
