Item Details and Description
Fabric History/Pedigree: 1980's tsumugi (pongee) silk pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: This distinctive Japanese vintage traditional Tsumugi is a lightweight pongee type silk that is only slightly translucent; entire fabric is rendered by very tiny pixelated weave to create designs which are all muted blues, browns, burgundies, and gray, predominantly floral figures within irregularly shaped bordered fields; 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) selvage on each side; A noteworthy feature of this fabric is that because of the minute woven pixels, the overall look of the fabric from a distance is a sort of gray clouded overlay; this tsumugi is a light fabric, minimally textured to the touch and no sheen; some drape; same on both sides.
Colors: Reminder that colors differ on each devices so us our text color descriptions to complement your sense of the look of this piece.
