Fabric History/Pedigree: 1960's tsumugi (pongee) silk pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner / reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE

Fabric Description:  This distinctive Japanese vintage traditional Tsumugi is a light-weight, slightly translucent pongee type silk; rectangular shaped checkerboard type grid with some large chrysanthemums (7inches/ 17.78 cm diameter); patterns are done using tiny pixelated dots and tiny hash-like marks; Background is black with designs in subtlely varying hues of white and off-white ;this tsumugi is light fabric, minimally textured to the touch and no sheen; some drape; same on both sides.
