Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall, by click-pushing HERE.

Fabric Description: Lightweight silk originally intended to make a woman's kimono; This is a  distinctive fabric piece from the 30s to 50s; the background is a dark-cranberry burgundy color with an interwoven lattice of diagonal diamonds with a flower within each, these run throughout; Motifs are of peaches with leaves and branches, done in impressionistic fashion (blurred edges intentional) with what appears to resemble hanging moss, stylized using mock-shibori patterns, mostly running vertically; Design colors are mostly lighter tones of green, mustard yellow, gray, off-white, and blues; (see close-ups); Designs on one side but mostly visible on reverse slight drape.

Note on colors: As all devices have differing coloration, please use our text descriptions of colors to complement your sense of the color of the fabric.

Condition: Excellent.
