Fabric History/Pedigree: Pieces received from traditional Japanese kimono cleaner/reconstructor called Arai-Hari -- see an excellent explanation of traditional Arai Hari by textile expert John Marshall,by click-pushing HERE.
Fabric Description: Lightweight silk, slightly translucent originally intended to make a woman's kimono; This is a distinctive fabric piece from the 1960s; background is a solid cranberry-red with ornate classic print motifs, mix of full spectrum of bright and darker colors used; motifs include many types of flowers, small and large; also, there is a theme of classic arrow feather shapes, all of which are variously decorated as well: designs of many different types of flowers, maple leaves, pine branches, cherry blossoms as well as royal cart (partial) ; see close-ups. designs are on one side but slightly visible on reverse; there is no sheen and the fabric has minimal drape.
